MEET KAREN CHEKAS
A psychotherapist and wellness presenter, Karen Chekas weaves therapy with movement, drawing on over four decades of experience supporting mind-body healing. Grounded in more than 200 hours of yoga teacher training, her strength-based approach is enriched by certifications in Chair Yoga, trauma-informed yoga for youth, meditation, and Reiki level 1 practices. Karen’s holistic career path emerged from a deep curiosity about how the interplay of breath, nervous system regulation, and movement influences our inner experience-cultivating clarity of mind, information processing, and conscious decision-making.
Today, her work reflects a uniquely integrative perspective, weaving evidence-based psychotherapy with restorative movement practices such as Hatha yoga, pranayama (yogic breathwork), Tai Chi-qigong, singing bowl vibrations, and guided meditation.
Karen has devoted much of her career to serving the Deaf community, offering yoga and therapeutic movement through American Sign Language (ASL), visual teaching methods, and embodied learning.
At the heart of her work is the creation of inclusive wellness spaces- where communication, safety, and self-expression gently foster healing, resilience, and reconnection.
